Throughout the semester students enrolled in designated courses (Psych 101, 230, 280 and ComSt 101) may sign-up for research studies using the on-line Research Sign-up System. You are encouraged to check the system regularly because the availability of studies changes frequently. Each study is briefly described on-line.

All research participation in the Department of Marketing is voluntary. Students have the right to withdraw at any time, without penalty, should they object to the nature of the research. For reasons of scientific control, students may not know the exact nature of the research before participation but they will be informed of procedures, risks, and benefits. Students are entitled to ask questions and to receive an explanation of the research after their participation. Any report of the data collected will be in summary form, without identifying individuals.

The Sona System is a research participation and management tool that connects undergraduate students to faculty and graduate students who need participants for their research and dissertation studies. This online system allows researchers to post studies for recruitment, instructors to encourage student participation in research activities and students to sign up to participate in open research studies. The system has elements to assist the researcher with human subject protection and Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, keep track of participation and send out confidential reminder notices. It is a great opportunity for undergraduate students to gain introductory research experience. Many instructors have a research component as part of their course or offer extra credit for students who complete research studies using the Sona System.
