Almost everything that is included in Train Newswire is available somewhere on the internet for free. If you don't feel like paying - crank up your search engine and browser and go to work.

I appreciate the searching and consolidation efforts that the staff at Trains Magazine makes to put Newswire out. The collection, consolidation, and packaging of relevent railroad information so that I receive my weekly Newswire update with headlines in a single page format is a large effort -- work well worth paying for. Thanks Trains.

dd

ps - I also do my own searching in addition to Newswire. When I enter the term 'railroad' into my search engines, I get many articles on the underground railroad from pre civil war days. Great information -- but not exactly what I am looking for. Just try entering 'steam', 'coal' and 'railroad' into a search and see what you get :).

I am paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $35.00 for a one year subscription to Trains Magazine, and this gives me free access to the newswire. And that is not a bad deal at all. I am glad this web site exists because of all it's features, plus the ability to interact with others and share information in the forums.trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (20) So I think you should kwitcherbitchin.trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (21)

The cost of a magazine subscription is a small price to pay for the enjoyment and knowledge Iget from the TRAINS website. Do you have any idea what it costs to put up and keep up a website? It ain't free, pal. The Newswire is probably the most expensive part of the website on a day-to-day basis; I'm grateful TRAINS givesus a forum in which to participate and has someone (or some people) do the work necessary to keep the Newswire running.

It's a free country - you are free to not subscribe to the magazine.Just don't female dog about the consequenses of your (in)action.

The cost of my personal website and accompanying domain name (OK, so it's an ego thing) is just over $100 a year. That does not factor in my time in creating and maintaining it, which in the case of a site like Trains, is going to be substantial. My time is "free," too.

I have no problem withpaying fora subscription (I have MR, Trains and CT)- access to the website is a bonus.

I finally broke down and started subscribing several years ago after buying every month at the hobby shop since 1967. Access to the news wire is a pretty good fringe benefit.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

I agree with the majority of the posts. I enjoyed the News Wire while it was free, but now that it is a subscriber-only benefit, I think that's just fine. If you still think that something like what we had should be free, set up your own "Railroad News Wire", and put in whatever you want. Heck, put together some forums while you're at it!!! trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (45)trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (46)trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (47)trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (48)

Life is all about making choices.

Kalmbachis already providing plenty ofinformation/entertainment to you on the Internet for free. As others have already told you, Kalmbach incurs expenses to assemble and edit the NewsWire. It has a right to recoup any or all of those expenses, even if the revenuecomes indirectly from subscription sales. NOT newsstand sales, but mail subscription sales.

So Kalmbachmade a choice of how they will now make the NewsWire available.

You made a choice not to subscribe. You can always change your mind.

I think I should get it free and you should have to pay for my portion. And, not just newswire. Taxes, too. ...and groceries. ....and gas. ....and my electic bill. But, not my phone bill. I can handle that one.trains magazine news wire - Trains Magazine (70)

What is it you're trying to say, yes, Newswire used to be free, now it isn't, it's Trains forum, and they may run it as they wish. You could use Google or Ask or some of the other search engines and come up with rail news, if you wish.

It was nice while free, but I will subscribe when I am ready and not to get once available stuff on the website.
